As a local, a few things happen as summer comes to an end. One, the tourist season transfers from families on vacation to golfers and retirees. At the end of August and first few weeks in September, you can almost see the different school calendars across the nation reflected in wait times at restaurants and available parks at public beach accesses. By the end of September, the weather is perfect: mornings and evenings in the 70’s and highs in the mid 80’s. The water is still warm from the summer and often the storms in the Atlantic create some great waves for surfing.
After Labor Day, our area ramps up with some amazing festivals and we’ll be sending out a schedule on our social media platforms. Southern Palmetto Farms hosts a variety of fall related activities including a haunted trail that is a family favorite. Brookgreen Gardens is great to visit this time of year and always put on a spectacular fall festival. October’s average high is 76 degrees with average lows of 55! This mild weather makes this Luke’s favorite month as fire pit and oyster season begins!
Fall also means pumpkins, and Adrianne is in love with pumpkins. All pumpkins are welcome but especially the warty, different colored pumpkins. She’s her happiest walking through a local pumpkin patch finding the ugliest one. Our front steps are typically covered in them and we regularly rotate them out throughout the fall.
Be sure to follow us on Facebook and Instagram for a calendar of upcoming activities!
